May 2, 1960 ~ July 15, 2018
LeRoy "Butch" Chavez, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 15, 2018. He was born on May 2, 1960, to LeRoy Sr. and Sandra Bird Chavez. He graduated from Weber High School.
He married the love of his life, Christy VanDerZee on October 2, 1993. Together they had two beautiful children who he loved dearly. He was completely devoted to his wife, children, and granddaughter. They had a wonderful life together filled with happiness and lots of laughter.
Butch enjoyed drinking Budweiser, playing his guitar, fishing, and camping at our campground in Sourdough. He loved music, especially music from the Marshall Tucker Band and Toy Caldwell. He was a MacGyver and could fix it all. He was always helping others with anything and everything they needed. Butch's smile and laugh brought pure joy to those around him. He had a contagious sense of humor, he was quick witted, and brought laugher to everyone he came in contact with. He would never pass up the opportunity to make someone laugh. He was loved by everyone he met. To know him really was to love him. He will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Christy; his children: Nichole (Lance) Apedaile, Tanner Chavez, and Jason Frank; his granddaughter, Jaynee Evans; his mother, Sandra; and siblings: LoRin (Stephanie) Chavez, Josie (Rick) Jensen, and Leisa Raftery. He is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Sr.
In honor of Butch, a Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Butch and Christy's home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an account set up under "Butch Chavez" at America First Credit Union. Donations will be sent to a foundation specializing in addiction.
